Hippotizer at InfoComm 2009

Green Hippo and TMB have had a long-standing partnership for InfoComm and the 2009 show at the Orange county Convention center in Orlando was no exception. Green Hippo’s Special Projects division was there in the form of Tom Etra and sales were also present with Samantha Bailey on the stand throughout the show.

Forthcoming Hippotizer features making their North American debuts included UberPan. UberPan provides the ability to control multiple outputs from multiple Hippotizers using one ‘virtual ZooKeeper’ interface giving the user seamless media playback across different display products. This was the main focus of the InfoComm stand and used the most recent addition to the range, the HippoCritter to drive the feature. HippoCritter showed its versatility as 7 of them were bolted to the truss 7 meters in the air. The Critters ran short video cables to each of the 6 Plasmas and also the Curve Led. All 7 servers were controlled off a ZooKeeper interface at ground level.   The HippoCritters also shone with their ability to be shut down and restarted over the network, giving full control from one central location.

The final demonstration showed potential UberPan users how they could run video on a selection of resolutions and ratios from high resolution projection to lower resolution plasmas and even into low resolution LED’s.  Also, having the ability to have multiple canvases in one composition allows users to run, for example, all Plasmas with one video clip while having another piece of media driving the Projection screen and the Low resolution LED’s.

Green Hippo also demonstrated their Beta Text Engine component, giving the ability to live edit text on the screen or load in an HTML page along with pictures etc. These can be scrolled, effected and edited within the Hippotizer interface making Hippotizer one of the first media servers to be able to edit text in realtime.

Along with all of the demonstrations and business development Green Hippo and TMB found time to compile video demonstrations of the stand. Please see below.
